# 30 The Golden Gate Orchestra

The Golden Gate Orchestra was an alternate name for the California Ramblerswhen they recorded on Edison, Pathe and several other minor lables.

That sounds OK. We've changed the one Golden Gate Orchestra entry to The California Ramblers, thanks

Number one song on Oct. 7, 1925

What was the Number One song on October 7, 1925? +THANK YOU!

I want to give a copy of it to my beloved husband as a gift! You will gladden both of our hearts!

The charts for 1925 are nowhere near that specific.

#79 - Associated Glee Clubs-Adeste Fideles

This was also selected for Library Of Congress (NRR) in 2003. Correct Song Title is Adeste Fideles (not Fidelis),

Data fixed, thanks

Song #33

If You Knew Susie (Like I Know Susie) sung by Eddie Cantor

Sounds convincing, thanks

Ma Rainey

#13 See See Rider Blues was also a Library of Congress Artifact (NRR). For some reason you have that data on your 1923 list (as #24).

The system was failing to match "Gertrude 'Ma' Rainey" with "Ma Rainey". It has now been fixed, thanks for the suggestion

The reason for the difference in year is beacuse the Library of Congress lists when it was recorded and the Grammy list is when it became a hit

Vernon Dalhart

Thought your readers might be seeing multiple names for the Prisoner's Song. Vernon Dalhart used over 100 pseudonyms to record over 5,000 78 rpm singles; among the names he adopted were Frank Evans, Vernon Dale, Tobe Little, Bob White, Hugh Lattimer, Sid Turner, and Al Craver - often attributed to the Prisoner's Song.

Interesting.

We have some entries from Frank Evans but since they are from 1981 (and in Belgium) we're quite certain its not the same person.

None of the other aliases occur in any of the charts we have.
