Pre-1955 LPs
Oh, that's interesting that you say there was no LP chart prior to 1955 as I have read that there was an LP chart in 1944 or 45. I remember The Nat King Cole Trio appearing at number 1 in the very first US LP chart and Judy Garland's album "Meet Me in St. Louis" appearing at number 3. Perhaps this was A chart but not the later, official Billboard chart
You are right, what we meant was that there was no regular album chart that was compiled with a reliable source of data. Strictly there were, of course, no "LP chart" before 1948 since the first true LP was only released on 21 June 1948 by Columbia Records.
Billboard did publish some occasional album charts before 1955

Judy Garland Chart Hits
Hi. Where can I find information about Judy Garland hit LPs that charted before 1955?
The first true album charts only started in 1956 (in both the US and UK). So there really were no LPs that "charted" before 1955.
