(2) Additional Chart Entries
Per Wikipedia & Joel Whitburn #41 - Congratulations To Someone also made theUS Billboard Charts (#20 - 7 weeks). Also #42 - I'm the King Of Broken Hearts made the US Billboard Charts (#22 - 2 weeks).
Hmm, the older version of the Bullfrog data seems to have missed out songs with Whitburn numbers 1953_160..1953_256 (including these two). We've used the latest version (which fixes this) to add the missing 90 odd entries back in.
We spotted this issue with your comment on Percy Faith's "Swedish Rhapsody" so it should be fixed
Thanks

#16 - The Shadow Of Your Smile
This song +won the Oscar for Best Song of the Year. It won the Grammy for Best Song of the Year. It is on the AFI Film song List (#77). It also made the Billboard Charts (#95 - 6 weeks).
The Oscar entry was under "Original Soundtrack", now fixed. We only list the Record of the year Grammy (which was won by "A Taste of Honey" from Herb Alpert) although this song was nominated for that.
Our listing had the Billboad song under "Love Theme From The Sandpiper (The Shadow Of Your Smile)" so we've fixed that
Thanks

I'm not 100% sure, but i Believe Tony Bennett has the longest/widest span of entries in the charts 1953 - 2011, (in 2011 he was 83 years old). Just a funfact. Love your site.
Update:
Sorry the span is 1951-2011.
The longest span we have is Enrico Caruso (1900-1999) however that was before real charts were available.
In the "modern" era we think that the top 7 spans are:
Perry Como 1943-2009 66 years, Count Basie 1937-2002 65 years, Doris Day 1947-2011 64 years, Nat King Cole 1941-2005 64 years, Dean Martin 1949-2010 61 years, Tony Bennett 1950-2011 61 years, Ray Charles 1949-2009 60 years
Of course most of those had hits after they died, but Doris Day is still alive (we think she's 90).

A song from early 50's sung by Johnnie Frances
This song was called 'Madonna Madonna' And was top of the top twenty in the good old days of radio Luxembourg. They were the only people who would play it and used to have to fade the actual words Madonna Madonna for religeous reasons but of course that made it a huge hit at the time.
The words were Maddona Madonna I stand here alone tonight look down on me please from up above tell me how did I come to lose my love
I know it's daft but everybody thinks I've made it up!!
Please somebody help!!!!!!!!!
There is a song called "Madonna, Madonna" that was a hit for Tony Bennett in 1954 in the US (and for Alain Chamfort in France during 1975).
If you had searched for "Madonna, Madonna" in the site search box at the top of the page, or if you'd look in the Site Index you would have found it.

"Stranger in Paradise" - by Tony Bennett.
It's interesting to note that "Stranger in Paradise" (by Tony Bennett) didn't arrive in Australia until 2 years after it made the charts in the US. (Nov-1953 in the US, and Nov-1955 in Australia).
The song came from the musical "Kismet" which opened in New York in 1953. A production opened in London in April 1955 (which explains the timing of the UK hit). An MGM film was released in 1955 as well. We suspect that either the film or an local version of the stage musical caused the song to be a hit in Australia in late 1955.
This is exactly the kind of cross-chart insight that this site was created for, thank you for pointing it out.
